About the role:

Reporting to the Agency Security Adviser, the Security Adviser will be responsible for the following key duties:

  • Provide advice to the Royal Commission in the development of security policies and procedures in line with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF);
  • Provide advice and support to the Commissioners, CEO and other Royal Commission officers on protective security matters;
  • Regulate, monitor and report on the Royal Commission's protective security procedures and systems;
  • Develop and maintain a Royal Commission Protective Security Plan based on the evolving minimum standards applicable in the PSPF and analysis of specific protective security threats and risks;
  • Conduct or facilitate appropriate security awareness training programs for Royal Commission employees and contractors;
  • Liaise with the ICT manager regarding information security training and compliance;
  • Establish and maintain personnel security aftercare measures;
  • Manage security incidents and conduct, facilitate or assist in investigations;
  • Liaise with co-tenants, agencies and security agencies on matters of Royal Commission security;
  • Conduct or facilitate security threat and risk assessments;
  • Maintain a security risk register;
  • Contribute to fraud control measures;
  • Contribute to business continuity planning;
  • Administer the Royal Commission physical security infrastructure and compliance related to sensitive facilities;
  • Develop, implement and monitor operational and procedural documentation;
  • Act in emergencies to ensure protection of the Royal Commission's information, people and assets; and
  • Liaise with facilities management and building management to facilitate secure movement of assets to meet Royal Commission needs.

Job Specific Criteria: 

 

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the development and management of protective security policies and practice within a government or government-related agency;
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the provision of protective security advice;
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in security risk management; and
  • Experience in training delivery would be an advantage.
